An EPC (short for Energy Performance Certificate) is a document that indicates a residential property's estimated energy consumption per m². Therefore a lower EPC score means better energy performance.

At the end of August 2018, Flemish Animal Welfare Minister Ben Weyts reached an agreement with Verenigde Eigenaars (United Property Owners) regarding the keeping of pets in rented houses or apartments. From now on, it will not be permitted to simply refuse to allow tenants to keep pets in rented properties. Naturally, the situation will also depend on whether the tenant lives in a house or an apartment.

Anyone buying an apartment or a house pays stamp duty. You pay this tax when you register the deed of sale. The civil-law notary normally handles this.
Until 1 June 2018, the rate for stamp duty in Flanders was 10% of the purchase price. A lower rate transfer tax of 5% applied to dwellings with land registry fees of 745 euros or less.
